We’re excited to announce that the Democracy Works Elections API has won a 2024 API Award in the Best Data API category. The 10th annual API Awards celebrate the technical innovation, reception, and solutions in the global API and software integration industry.

The Democracy Works Elections API provides reliable voting guidance for all levels of elections. It allows developers to build applications, power voter outreach campaigns, and more. Partners can access nationwide coverage for federal, state, county, municipal, school board, and sub-municipal races for all jurisdictions with more than 5,000 people.

Our data includes dates and deadlines for elections, early voting, voter registration, mail ballot requests, and mail ballot returns. It also includes links and contacts for authoritative government sources, as well as voting guidance in English and Spanish, such as voter registration instructions, eligibility requirements, vote-by-mail instructions, voter ID requirements, answers to frequently asked voting questions, nonpartisan ballot information, and more.

Launched in January 2024, the Democracy Works Elections API helps power TikTok's Election Center, which helps connect people who watch or search for election-related content to reliable facts.

"Today’s digital enterprise & consumer apps are increasingly powered by API-centric architecture and platforms. Democracy Works Elections API’s win here at the 2024 API Awards is evidence of their leading role in the growth of the global API ecosystem,” said Jonathan Pasky, Executive Producer & Co-Founder of DevNetwork, producers of the API World conference & the 2024 API Awards.

Award winners were selected by the independent, expert-led DevNetwork API Advisory Board, based on criteria including: technical innovation; attracting notable attention and awareness in the API industry; and general regard and use by the API and integration ecosystems and communities.
